Gary Tan

Gary Tan graduated from the Nanyang Technological University in 1997 on the Ministry of Education Singapore, Teaching Scholarship Programme. He has been an educator for more than 24 years and continues to pursue his passion in bringing quality cutting edge education in the schools that he serves.

Prior to coming to Indonesia, he was the Vice Principal of Crescent Girls School and sat in numerous Ministry and nation wide committees such as the BACKPACK.NET Committee, IT Masterplan 2 and 3 Committees, Intelligent Nation (IN) 2015 Masterplan Committee and the Future Schools@Singapore Committee. He also chaired the South Cluster Technology Committees and led his department in garnering multiple innovation and tech awards.

A mover and shaker in the education industry, Gary seeks to create social impact in the schools and community that he serves in.

Academic Advisory Board

Ivy Lau

Ivy Lau, an educator and tireless advocate of life-long learning, holds an MBA from Charles Sturt University, Australia. With more than 25 years of education and management expertise, her roles focus on strategic planning and corporate restructuring, marketing and finance.

She sets the direction of the campus through the communication of her vision and mission, inspiring the team to achieve key business objectives and priorities. She coaches staff in the skills they need to perform their jobs with the single-minded aim of meeting students’ needs.

Under her leadership, her team achieved awards and recognitions in MyQuest (MOHE) evaluation in Malaysia and accreditation, here in Jakarta.   She has been a Toastmasters member for more than 14 years, and served as Director for District 87. She also held office as the Chairperson of the Sarawak Chapter of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM) from 2015 to 2018.

Manivasugen

Manivasugen has more than 17 years of experience as an Educator and Marketing Specialist in the education field. He started his career as a Business Teacher at STB-ACS Jakarta in 2005. Two years later, he moved to President University and assumed a new role as a Marketing lecturer cum a Student Recruitment Director in Cikarang. His last position before moving to The Laureate Group of Universities in Malaysia was a Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Student Recruitment, Student Dormitory and International Office.

He officially joined The Senior Corporate Team at the Raffles Group of Schools in 2015. His main role is to oversee Marketing, Business Development and Corporate Social Responsibility for the group.

Manivasugen has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Bangalore University, India.

Sukesh Kamath Surendra

Sukesh is a creative pedagogist keen on transforming the approach of making education fun. His emphasis is on delivering the content in an innovative way to make it interesting and effective. He thrives on effort and responds positively to feedback to become better at a skill.

Head of Design

Shervon Yak

Over the last 20 years, Shervon has been a dedicated trainer and IT Evangelist in the Educational Industry in Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. You may know her work as the Head of Designer in the Gcode Creative Design now, but Shervon has also made valuable contributions in charity initiatives with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for Indonesia and as a volunteer for Singapore Association of Indonesia (SAI).

Shervon is keen to inspire creativity using technology and design for the new generation.

Shervon has been honoured as a Top ICT trainer in Asknlearn, Singapore, and has guided students to numerous awards at national level. She holds a Masters In Industrial Design, Domus Academy from Milano, Italy. She currently resides in Indonesia.

Economics Teacher

Yashjeet

Yashjeet is a Cambridge IGCSE and A levels certified Economics and Business teacher at the Raffles Christian School –  Kebon Jeruk.  He is a dedicated, resourceful and goal-driven educator. A teacher who wants all students to be successful learners and works to create an inclusive atmosphere that is stimulating, encouraging, and adaptive to the varied learning needs of students. He was awarded the Raffles Christian School – Teacher of the Year 2017-2018.

He has a total of 10 plus year’s work experience, 2 years as Financial Analyst, 2 years as Business Development Manager in Retail Banking, 1 year as Operations manager and 5 years of teaching experience. His industry experience helps him to have more hands on learning sessions with his students.

He also holds an award for outstanding research paper on Management Strategies of Trade, Commerce and Industries in India, South Korea, China & USA: Global Perspectives.

English Teacher

Malcolm Johnson

Malcolm is a teacher and educationist with global experience of language teaching and teacher training. He spent most of his career working overseas for the British Council, supporting the teaching of English in developing countries.

Malcolm took a BA with first class honours in English literature at Leeds University, returning after overseas experience to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in English as a Second Language.

Among his achievements, Malcolm conceived and organised a major international conference on tri-lingual learners’ problems. He later joined the Cambridge team that created the forerunner of the IELTS test.

Throughout his teaching career Malcolm has innovated and pioneered new learner-centred methods for the teaching and testing of English language. His personal motto: ‘The teaching never stops.’

Physics Teacher

Laxman

Laxman has been teaching Physics for the IGCSE and AS/A Level students in Raffles Christian School since 2015. He has been teaching students of different levels more for than 12 years. He believes that every child has the ability to do well and works closely with them to improve their knowledge and skills. Using various pedagogical approaches, he makes sure that students understand the concept rather than memorize it.

Laxman has been a certified teacher from online digital platforms like Kami and Seneca. He has been awarded teacher of the year for Annual Year 2018-2019. He has achieved a distinction in Cambridge International Certificate In Teaching and Learning (CICTL) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics.

English Teacher

Worley A. Pamilaran

Worley has more than 15 years of experience as an international school educator. He has taught primary, secondary and Junior College students from 4 international schools during his entire teaching career. As an educator, he believes that his duty is to not only mould the minds of his students but to also touch their hearts.

Being an English and Humanities teacher at Raffles Christian School, Worley has been tasked to teach a variety of subjects which fit his expertise including IGCSE First Language English, English as a Second Language, History, Global Perspectives and AS General Paper.  He has also produced students who have received the prestigious Cambridge Learner Award.

Worley has a Bachelor’s degree in History, a Certificate in Teaching and a Certificate in Teaching ESL in the Mainstream. He was awarded the Raffles Christian School Teacher of the Year in 2018.

Chemistry Teacher

Janet Ricalde Libanan

Janet is a dedicated and experienced teacher who believes that every student is capable of learning and achieving a qualification no matter how young or old the student is. Understanding and analyzing students’ point of view is one of the methods she uses so students understand the lesson being taught. It is a delight to her to enable students to apply concepts learned in their daily lives. Janet was awarded the Raffles Christian School Teacher of the Year in 2011.

Janet has a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Post Graduate Diploma in Science Teaching and a Certificate in Teaching.

Math Teacher

Antonius

Antonius is a Mathematics teacher who loves to make learning math fun and meaningful. His passion in teaching has been leading him to keep learning and to upskill himself in order to deliver and conduct math classes beyond the syllabus.
Being an educator drives him towards a goal which is to guide students to have a better understanding in math and to be a better problem solver by giving positive feedback, active discussions, and strong support beyond the classroom.
His background in Mechanical Engineering degree has a strong support towards STEM teaching when conducting math classes.

Biology Teacher

Francklin Gabrieloo

Francklin was born in Madagascar. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Natural Science and Plant Biology as well as Masters Degree in Plant Molecular Biology and Genetics.

He has been an educator for more than 10 years for Biology, Science and French. He is a French Native speaker. He was awarded of Roger Samba and J. Paul Getty Scholarship in 2014 and KNB scholarship in 2015. He also has some experience working in Contain High Risk Pathogens -Advanced Biocontainment and Analytical Laboratories: BSL-3.
